Nestled in the heart of San Francisco, inside the historic War Memorial Building, The Green Room stands as a testament to timeless elegance and architectural splendor. Its sweeping views of the grand City Hall Building, and the opulence of the Green Room bathed in a creamy vintage gold and kissed with gold molding and large arching glass doors that open onto a mostly covered outdoor patio set the perfect stage for an elegant affair.
In this case, I am working on an annual fundraising gala for a client who is very excited to be locking in this beautiful space for 300 to 350 people for a night of elegance and supporting children's education.
The Green Room is a great place for any non-profit looking to host something a bit swanky in San Francisco for a large group, as they offer a discounted rental rate to non-profits, and the space includes a full kitchen with 4 burner stove, oven, sinks, ice machine, and a private bathroom, oh- and lots of prep counter space. Bonus! You are able to provide your own bar service, and while they have a large list of vendors they have worked with, you are welcome to use any vendor who can meet the liability insurance requirements and name the venue as additionally insured. One downer here - NO KEG BEER allowed - cans or bottles only. This is a small issue - though I wasn't sure I understood why - it is the rule.
As you approach The War Memorial Building, you can't help but be moved by the history echoing from the glorious site of the cathedral-like City Hall building just across the street. One can imagine all those who have walked this way before, who have made stories and memories, shared music, changed laws. It's powerful, and it has me ready to break out my most elegant attire for a beautiful night!
The Green Room is located on the Second Floor of the War Memorial, and you may take the elevator or the grand staircase up (take the staircase for the full experience of the space).
The ceilings are high and vast, and as you arrive and enter The Green Room, you can't help but marvel at how it must have done, the time and teamwork required- and then the doors open into this long space, with twinkling in old-world charm, painted floor to fantastically high ceilings in a pale creamy green, trimmed with ornate gold moldings, and majestic columns that exude a sense of grandeur. The space is bathed in natural light that filters through multiple pairs of large glass doors, which open out to the amazing illuminating the exquisite details of the decor and creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The Green Room's allure goes beyond its physical beauty; it embodies a sense of timelessness and sophistication that captivates all who enter its doors. It serves as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage of the City By The Bay and stands as a symbol of the enduring legacy of architectural excellence in California.
Located across from The Herbst Theater, which hosts classical musicians, be aware of potential sound restrictions when booking this space for events or clients. Amplified sound is not allowed during certain hours and the two main doors into The Green Room must remain closed.
If you are interested in hosting an event in a beautiful downtown San Francisco venue, this is a fantastic choice. Should you want some help getting your next event off the ground, feel free to reach out to book a consultation (soon available for booking on the site)!
